Islamic Relief Palestine concludes its annual Ramadan activities

Islamic Relief Palestine concludes its annual Ramadan activities with more than 39,000 beneficiaries from these activities.

Since the very early days of the holy month of Ramadan, Islamic Relief was keen to implement a set of Ramadan activities to alleviate the burden on families resulting from the very bad economic conditions that Palestinian families are leading for more than 10 years now.

Activities varied between distribution of food vouchers for the poorest households in the Gaza Strip, Ramadan Iftars gatherings for orphans and their families and distribution of Eid gifts for sponsored children

Humanitarian Projects Program Manager, Engineer Rami Mahani, confirmed that the program managed to access more than 35,000 people (5,932 families) and provide them with vouchers to purchase food. The project contributed to alleviating the suffering of the poorest families and decreased the high rates of food insecurity.

He added “this program we selected beneficiaries from areas of Rafah and northern Gaza Strip based on several criteria most importantly rates of food insecurity in these areas. Numbers of displaced people were also considered. Official reports show that Rafah has the highest rate of food insecurity with (54%), followed by the Northern Gaza Strip with (49%) and then Gaza province with (48%).”

Maysara Al Shaer, Orphans Supporting Serveries Officer, says “Islamic Relief is as always dedicated to bring happiness to hearts of sponsored children and their families in Ramadan. They enjoyed the spirituality of the holy month, and they were prepared to receive the Eid happily and joyfully. With kind support of benevolent people around the world, thousands of children and their families participated in the activities.

Thanks to Allah we managed to successfully implement four Iftar gatherings during Ramadan, with more than 2,000 children and their families present, we have also distributed Eid gifts and clothes to 1,500 children.”
