Islamic Relief Palestine Celebrates World Water Day

Islamic Relief Palestine organized “Mile for Water” activity in collaboration with UNICEF, Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, Water Authority and Ministry of Education in the Gaza Strip in the occasion of World Water Day which marks the 22nd of November each year.

More than 150 children who attended environmental protection training conducted by IRPAL participated in the event entitled “Mile for Water” that included drawing and coloring a picture. They expressed their right to access to water and shedding the light about the necessity to protect the water recourses to secure better future.

The activity included a march for student raising signs stating the water situation in Palestine and Gaza Strip. The water situation in Gaza is facing a crisis due to increased levels of contamination in the aquifer and the shortage of water resources.

The activity was concluded with human chain that was comprised of representatives of various organizations along with students and kids along the beach adjacent to the harbor. Their participation came to emphasize the risks of deteriorating water crisis. They also called for support to water sector in Palestine.
