Title: Emergency officer.

Location: Gaza office.

Duration: 06months, full time.

Main Duties:

  • Participate in the continual development, review, and implementation of Islamic Relief Palestine’s preparedness and response plan, in close coordination with IRPAL team and partners.
  • Maintain mapping of local organizations capable of responding to emergencies for community engagement.
  • Work with partners to conduct and update vulnerability and capacity assessment (VCA), risk assessment for the region to support response planning, and identify capacity-building needs.
  • Contribute to partners’ capacity building on Emergency management through trainings, workshops and simulation.
  • Work with partners to develop and test emergency response plans at community level.
  • Contribute in preparation of the specifications and procurement of the prepositioned materials / tools / equipment needed for emergency response to ensure the ability to respond quickly in the event of emergencies.
  • Ensure good representation of IRPAL and maintain good working relationships with local partners, international NGOs and UN organizations for the coordination of emergency preparedness and response.
  • Maintain records and analysis of humanitarian reports and publications by key players.
  • Participate in coordinating IRPAL emergency response when necessary.
  • Ensure regular reporting on all activities.

Candidates must possess the following competencies:

  • Bachelor degree in Disaster Management, Social Science, International Studies, Business Administration or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in humanitarian work, preferably in preparedness planning and managing emergency interventions
  • Result-oriented
  • Inclusive programing
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in emergency management cycle, and Humanitarian principles and standards.
  • Proven experience in managing emergency interventions in a humanitarian context, and demonstrated high-level skills in project management.

Demonstrated familiarity with emergency response systems in Gaza, especially with relevant INGOs/NGOs and CBOs.

General Skills:

  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Very good project management skills including, written and verbal communication, facilitation, and reporting
  • Initiative, Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi–task, manage time and prioritize work to deadlines,
  • The ability to work on own initiative, effectively both as an individual and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office,
