Islamic Relief Opens Innovation club in 22 public schools in the Gaza Strip<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Islamic Relief Palestine launched \u201cInnovation clubs\u201d in 22 public schools in the Gaza Strip within the project “Enhancing education quality through science and technology Innovation clubs ” in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, and with funding from Reach Out to \u00a0Asia (ROTA) and Rahmatn lill Alamean RLA, Singapore.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The speech of Islamic Relief was delivered by Eng. Muneeb Abu Ghazaleh, Palestine Office CD, in which he underlined the importance of integrating the efforts of the three programs of Islamic Relief among themselves as well as the integration with the international and local efforts of institutions working in the sector. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed also, the importance of unleashing child creativity and providing the necessary support for them towards a better future.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ahmad Abu Nada – Deputy Chief of Technology Dept. at the Ministry of Education, praised the role played by the educational system and its cooperation with Islamic Relief in order to provide the best education for our children and build their future, hoping that the project comprises a larger number of schools in its next phases and that efforts continue towards improving the quality of education.<\/p>\n

In her speech, Project Coordinator- Mrs. Heba Al Timawy, clarified that the project aims at improving the quality of education and develop the areas of creativity enabling students to keep up with modern developments. To do this, the project created innovation clubs in the fields of science and environment, computer, multimedia, technology, media and communication.<\/p>\n

She added, the project targeted talented students aging (13-16 years) in 22 public schools in the Gaza Strip who have been selected based on nomination criteria developed in cooperation with Ministry of Education. Targeted schools are currently provided with technological equipment and necessary accessories for activating the four clubs. Mrs. Timawy, also added that 179 teachers have been trained as leaders for these clubs in addition to a number of Supervisors in the Departments of Education to ensure that the activities of the project are going smoothly and distinctively.<\/p>\n

The standard Model and Operational Manuals for the clubs were also developed to facilitate work of the clubs leaders, supervisors and talented students, also, help them in turning their ideas into innovations and find creative solutions solving the challenges of school and community productions. She also announced a creativity contest between the clubs, leaders and supervisors to encourage this approach.<\/p>\n

The project has also conducted a number of awareness sessions for parents and their children in partnership with the Future Development commission with 2739 individuals, so as to sensitize the community to the importance of supporting the creations of their children and motivate them to adopt and work for a better future.<\/p>\n<\/div>
