Job Vacancy with a humanitarian INGO

Islamic Relief is a humanitarian INGO (www.irpal.ps) operating in Palestine in the fields of emergency relief and development. Islamic Relief announces the following vacancy of site engineer, for its office in Gaza Strip, to work in a project of constructing a new school in Khan Younis.

Title                            : Site Engineer

Location:  Gaza Office.

Type of Position      : Full time (6 days a week)

Duration  : 9 months

Deadline : Saturday, 25 March 2017

 

Main Duties:

  • Review and verify bid documents (design, bill of quantities, drawings, and technical specifications) to ensure their accuracy and applicability, ensure that all biding documents are compiled with IRPAL standard and regulation and participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits during bidding process.
  • Supervise all project works and ensure that all are done as per technical specification and engineering drawings, and notify the contractor of any defects found with regards to the quality of the workmanship or materials and equipment incorporated in the project.
  • Review the contractor’s work schedules and updates; closely monitor the work progress and budget utilization to ensure compliance with the project duration and cost.
  • Measure, record and review payment requests for the executed works submitted by the contractor.
  • Prepare regular briefings and reports to direct supervisor.
  • Maintain a filing system for all site memos, instructions, as well as internal/external correspondences, measured quantities of works, materials on site, reports, and other documents pertaining to the construction activities.

 

Candidates must possess the following competencies and skills:

  • Sc. degree in civil / construction / Architecture engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum five years of relevant working experience in supervising field, preferably with INGOs.
  • Very good experience in supervising Rehabilitation / Construction activities for houses / schools.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Very good English language skills.
  • Very good knowledge in MS Office applications, AutoCAD and MS Project.
