Islamic Relief is a humanitarian INGO (www.irpal.ps) operating in Palestine in the fields of emergency relief and development. Islamic Relief announces the following vacancy for its office in Gaza Strip.

 

Title: Psychosocial Project Officer

Ref.:  PPO -CWP – 03 -2018

Location: Gaza office.

Duration: 18 months, full time.

Deadline of applications:  Monday, 19 March 2018.

 

About the project:

The project aims, to comprehensively address the needs of the children of Gaza through psychosocial support. The project implemented by eight local partners (CBOs), in collaboration with schools. Islamic Relief technical team is providing the necessary capacity building and supervision to enhance the CBOs ability to provide the needed psychosocial support for vulnerable children, adolescents and their families.

 

Main Duties:

Project management

  • Contribute to designing and applying the necessary work procedures related to implementation of project activities with focus on child development goals
  • Coordinate and oversee project activities in the area of responsibility in the project.
  • Supervise the projects implementation by partner(s), give expertise and guidance to partners according to IRPAL policies and procedures, and ensure empowering local community through transferring systems, knowledge and skills.
  • Contribute to designing and applying the necessary guidelines in consultation with relevant experts.
  • Communicate and coordinate with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and control the project expenditure within agreed authority thresholds as per internal control system
  • Contribute to identifying opportunities to build relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Represent IRPAL in related forums, clusters and similar INGOs events.
  • Maintain positive relationships and regular contact with partner organizations, and be a positive representative of IRPAL in related meetings.
  • Produce project action plans in collaboration with implementing partners and supervisor.
  • Produce progress monitoring reports including internal reports as per IRPAL internal control system requirements, as well as external reports as per donors’ requirements and deadlines

 

Candidates must possess the following competencies:

  • University degree in psychology, counselling, or mental health.
  • Three years of working experience related to psychosocial field, preferably at international organization

General Knowledge & skills required:

  • Basic project management skills
  • Very good experience and track record in the field of psychosocial support
  • Very good project management skills including coordination, communication, facilitation, and reporting
  • Understanding of international human rights issues,
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi–task, manage time and prioritize work to deadlines,
  • Strong interpersonal skills are a significant advantage, both for internal coordination and for working with key stakeholders,
  • Competency in writing progress reports and narratives for donors,
  • The ability to work on own initiative, effectively both as an individual and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office,
