During 2017- 2018, IRPAL conducted comprehensive study about mapping communities’ vulnerabilities in the Gaza Strip in coordination with 25 municipalities, and 17 local CSOs. The study has addressed the communities’ vulnerabilities in terms of lack of access to basic services under 5 key vulnerability aspects: economic, environmental, protection, education and health.
The study adopted the segmentation of Gaza Strip into of 5 governorates, each governorate comprises of 25 municipalities/localities, and each locality includes a number of neighborhoods to have a total of 270 neighborhoods. Clear results demonstrate that there are 116 neighborhoods considered moderately to highly vulnerable in terms of the abovementioned aspects. Amongst the 116 vulnerable neighborhoods. There are several that are with significantly high vulnerability in the five main aspects and deserve immediate community interventions, towards protection and sustainable wellbeing.
