Islamic Relief ends training kindergarten teachers as a step forward to implement the national curriculum for pre-school with the start of the academic year 2016-2017

Islamic Relief ends 16 kindergarten teachers training workshops in preparation for the implementation of the national curriculum for pre-school with the start of the academic year 2016-2017

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education Islamic, Relief organized systematic training program for 60 pilot kindergartens distributed round seven educational directorates along Gaza Strip, this training was about the new curriculum and the new teachers guide for the preschool levels KG1 & KG2 in addition to workbooks for both levels.

The program focused on several themes including growth features of young learners, project based learning and child lead activities, storytelling and drama, integrating learning ,language and numeracy preparedness , preparing teaching resources besides educational technology and using interactive smart board applications and digital stories ,as well as, evaluation skills by means of action research and case study.

As soon as these workshops end on 25/08/2016 a new step begins including implementing pilot lessons in targeted 40 KGS

As a platform for experimentation stage in terms of evaluation, review and reflection of curriculum to make finalization approval before concluding amendments.

This achievement is part of a project to improve the preschool education access and quality funded by the Islamic Relief Germany and implemented by Islamic Relief Palestine. It also paves the way for implementation of the Palestinian National Curriculum for kindergarten at the beginning of the academic year 2016 -2017 unprecedented step.

The project aims at improving the quality of education in kindergartens, which is aimed at comprehensive development of the kindergarten sector aroused from the strategy of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, It includes five core programs:

 Prepare a unified curriculum for kindergarten.

 Tomorrow’s kindergarten.

 My child’s health.

 Effective supervision.

 Kindergarten and community.

The preparation of a unified curriculum for kindergartens is the most important achievement, especially after the announcement of the “General framework of the unified Palestinian Curriculum for Kindergarten” .It comes to meet the needs of children and their abilities and develop their skills and achieve their comprehensive psychological healthy environment and cultural and integrated growth preparation of children and smooth transfer to basic school.

The project adopts an expanded media campaign entitled “Get your son and the son enrolled at KGs for a better future”. The main objective of such campaign is to raise awareness of the children’s families and community to strengthen the relations between family and the kindergarten. As well as to raise the enrollment ratios in kindergarten.
