Islamic Relief delivers Desferal Pumps for children with Thalassemia
Via the project “Rehabilitation of conflict-affected children” funded by Islamic Relief – UK, Islamic Relief distributes Desferal Pumps to 40 children suffering from thalassemia. In this project, Islamic Relief cooperates with “Palestine Future for Childhood Foundation” who is the leading organization in taking care of patients with thalassemia.
Director of Islamic Relief- Palestine, Gaza Office Mr. Moneeb Abu Gazala, talked about the importance of providing these pumps for children for its positive effect on their life. Mr. Abu Ghazala said “The pumps help children to live their life normally as they can play, study and practice their other activities without any limitations or restrictions for more than 5 hours for each time of receiving the dose”
Mr. Ahmed Al Kashef, Director of “Palestine Future for Childhood Foundation” expressed his institutions’ appreciation for the great role that Islamic Relief plays in taking care of children especially children with disabilities and chronic diseases.
The activities of the day were continued to include training children and their families on how to use the pumps. Also the Psycho-Social Support team at Islamic Relief organized recreational activities and psychological support sessions. The sessions will continue until the end of July 2016. At the end of the sessions an open day will be implemented and gifts will be distributed for children.
