Islamic Relief Continues alleviating the Suffering of the Families

Islamic Relief- Palestine (IRPAL) is implementing a Winter Gaza Appeal Project funded by Islamic Relief Worldwide in order to protect the poorest and most vulnerable families during winter, and to reinforce their steadfastness in the face of natural catastrophes.

Eng. Tareq Rayyan, Project Coordinator, explained that “75 households i.e around 500 members constitute the project beneficiaries. They were selected from Social Safety Net (SSN) Projects adopting a comprehensive and integrated methodology between projects. The criteria of selection were based on economic, social, and health conditions. Selected families led tough economic and social conditions, and whose one or more of their members are with disability.

“The project works to improve the housing conditions of the poor families though rehabilitating dilapidated ceiling, walls, windows, doors, electricity network, and other housing components which all protect beneficiaries during winter with the least level of intervention to remove health hazards” He confirmed.

Generally, the project provides clothes and pieces of furniture necessary during winter. It comes, as part of IRPAL efforts, to provide a decent life to people in Gaza through alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable and the people in need. IRPAL worked tirelessly during times of emergencies to respond to the emergent and pressing needs

It is noted that the project is implemented in new mechanisms since beneficiaries do rehabilitation works by themselves in order to face winter. They follow a clear plan, approved by the project staff. The plan follows IRPAL strategy and approach which involves that beneficiaries depend on themselves to carry out project’s works.
