On World Water Day which marks 22 March each year, Islamic Relief Palestine organized an activity entitled “Nature for Water”. this activity was held in collaboration with UNICEF, Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, Water Authority, Ministry of Education and a number of CBOs in the Gaza Strip.
More than 200 children and 150 volunteer participated in the event doing serval activities including drawing a painting of 20 m2 expressing their right to access to safe drinking water and shedding the light on the necessity of protecting water recourses to secure better future.
The activity included standing and raising signs stating the water situation in Palestine and the Gaza Strip.
Their participation came to emphasize the risks of deterioration of water and called for support to water sector in Palestine.
It is to be mentioned that water situation in Gaza is catastrophic due to increased levels of contamination in the aquifer and shortage of resources.
