Provision of Non Food Items – Winterization Kit
The winter floods and storms hit the Gaza Strip in 2013, 2014 and 2015 forced a large number of families to evacuate their homes, being subjected to severe protection risks. Further impacting the poorest families of the Gaza Strip’s capacity to respond to needs as most do not possess adequate shelters or basic needs.
As a response to the urgent needs of the vulnerable families, IRPAL intend to support those families by providing them the essential non-food items through the ongoing comprehensive intervention of Social Safety Net project. The non-food items kit was provided for 400 households, each included: four mattresses, four pillows, one mat and two blankets. all items were selected of the best quality and matching each family needs.
Families were thankful and expressed their satisfaction as the provision of mats and blankets has been raised by them as the top priority, they mentioned that the provided materials will secure their needs and safety during such conditions, inevitably, improve their ability to cope with shocks and disasters.
During the distribution, IRPAL selected well known and accessible locations, however, ensured the accessibility and dignity for all categories as well as gender considerations. The project social workers assisted beneficiaries in carrying the items and transportation to their homes.
IRPAL through the Social Safety Net project targets the most vulnerable families living in inadequate shelters and caravans, have no source of income and lack the access to basic needs. The project covers their needs by providing multidimensional assistance of food vouchers, non-food items, health care, educational items and psychosocial support. The project duration is 18 months, covering Gaza governorate.
