After Islamic Relief funded my project, I have become more confident
“The bird cages I kept raising to help saving the money we needed have been destroyed in the last war on the Gaza Strip in 2014. Since then, I have knocked all the doors for funding to restart my project. Five years later, Islamic Relief has helped me.” Ihsan is one of the beneficiaries of Livelihood Support Project, which is funded by Islamic Relief – Mauritius Office.
”Thank Allah, When I received fund from Islamic Relief, I rebuilt the bird cages on the roof of my house and bought birds and poultry as well as a head of sheep.” continued happily.
“Previously, I was working in a sewing factory, but because of the circumstances and the constant closures, the owner had a big loss and he had to close the factory, I stayed workless for months at home until I decided to initiate my own small project to sustain my children.” sadly remember.
“I have learned to raise birds and animals by my father. I am not embarrassed by my work. I am very happy that I am trying to secure a decent life for my children”.
She adds, “In fact, it was a great thing to have this grant from Islamic Relief and it is really blessed. In the past, I have had a great losses in my project due to the death of birds, maybe because I got usury loans. However, when I got the Islamic Relief grant, I feel great comfort and blessings”
“Today I went to the market and sold two birds and some eggs, and from the revenue, I bought fodder for birds and vegetables for my children.”
Ihasn has many dreams to realize “I hope to own agricultural greenhouse. I want to expand my project, so I can save the expenses for the treatment of my patient husband, as well as the provision of school expenses for my four children”.
“Nowadays, this is school time and I will bring my children’s school supplies from the proceeds of my work. I am very happy to be able to meet my family’s needs without anyone’s help”
“Although I received a funding for a small project, but it made a big difference in my life. I have become more confident and the women of the neighborhood are proud of my success,” she said. “I encourage all women in the neighborhood to start their own small projects to meet the requirements of their poor families. The economic situation in Gaza is very difficult. There are no jobs”
“I no longer worry about the future of my children because I will continue working on my project until it becomes a big project, from which I can fulfil all my children wishes,” she concludes.
