Khadra could have regained smile and joy into her face soon the renovation of kitchen and toilet of Khadra Al Azree’y located at Wadi Al Salqa has finished within a project of Securing Healthy and Protective Living Environment for Women and Children in Wadi Al-Salqa Village funded by Islamic Relief- Switzerland. This project is implemented by Islamic Relief-Palestine.

Khadra dwells in a small home located in a disadvantaged area. Her home lacks the least basics. She sustains 5 members of her family amongst is physically disabled.

“Thanks Allah, my joy can’t be described, even neighbors have come to congratulate me”, Khadra happily said.

“I have always dreamed to get my home condition improved like other surrounding homes but the eyes desire what the hands can’t reach”, she also said.

“I like cleanness and tidiness; now I feel that my efforts in cleaning the home does not go in vain. Thanks Allah, my life has changed to the better. I have become using my kitchen with a feeling of comfort”, Khadra added.

Before, we used to suffer a lot as we had no place to wash dishes. I was washing dishes outside of the home which get dirty by sands”. “The kitchen used to be very hot but now a new ceiling of brick has been installed. Also, we have got new tiles, kitchen corner, and window. It has become safe from reptiles and insects especially we live in an agricultural area”, Khadra also said.

With joy and happiness Khadra says: “Honestly, I did not expect my kitchen and bathroom to be rehabilitated like this”, “I was desperate. I visited a large number of institutions, but I only had the opportunity of rehabilitation from Islamic Relief”.

Islamic Relief has established two water desalination stations at Wadi Al Salqa where its inhabitants used to walk very long to get water. They used to buy water which is expensive to them.

“Thanks God, Islamic Relief has changed our lives, made it easier, and saved us a lot of money. We have been drinking clean, healthy water that we are filling from the station that has been established. It is close to our house and we can get free water from”. “God bless you, thanks to all donors of Islamic relief for this work. Thanks God, all the families in the area are now able to drink clean water,” said Khadra. The area where Khadra dwells is still in need for many interventions to secure healthy and safe environment to people. I still have the hope to have sanitation network as this will make our life better and be safe from diseases.
